"Buzz, buzz", the seven forty-five alarm screams for the sleeping student to get up and out of bed until his hand crashes down on the silver snooze button and his head falls back on his drool soaked pillow signaling that he is going to be late for lab today.

  1. While this wasn't the longest sentence, I thought it was one of the better constructed sentences. The words used, like "scouring," and, "powers untold," work well to conjure up ideas of what the object could be and in what circumstances one would encounter such an object. The phase "...when mastered could entrust the user with powers untold" is one that seems to create a very set environment and context for the following words. To this end, the final joke seemed to be well thought out and, just as importantly, was unmissable (and funny, too). I also liked that the sentence was in a final free modifier style, assisting the ironic statement at the end, but also felt somewhat periodic as we got an idea (or at least thought we did) of what was going on well before the last statements were made.
